HGL Staff Conduct MODHMS™ Workshop in Australia

HGL’s Technical Director-Modeling, Dua Guvanasen, Ph.D., P.E. and Jeff Fairbanks recently travelled to Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, to conduct a workshop on HGL’s recently released version of MODHMS™ (HGL’s integrated surface water/groundwater modeling software), as well as present and discuss HGL’s software products.

The MODHMS™ workshop held at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, was attended by engineers and hydrogeologists from Australia’s private sector and academia. Following the workshop in Brisbane, Dr. Guvanasen and Mr. Fairbanks travelled to Sydney and the University of New South Wales’ (UNSW) Kensington campus to meet with Civil Engineering School faculty members to discuss future workshops. They also visited the UNSW Water Resources Laboratory in Manly, where they were provided a tour of the facility, including the laboratory sandbox experimental study on which HGL’s founder and CEO, Dr. Peter Huyakorn’s Ph.D., BCEE thesis was based. Dr. Guvanasen then presented UNSW Water Resources Laboratory personnel with an overview of HGL’s flagship software products: MODHMS™ and PBMO (Physics-based Flow, Transport, and Management Optimization Tool-kit to be released later this year).

The popularity of HGL’s training workshops is increasing. Two weeks prior to the Australia trip, Dr. Guvanasen and Mr. Fairbanks provided a MODHMS™ workshop to a group of over twenty private sector engineering professionals in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
