HGL Awarded Optimized Remediation Contract (ORC) for Front Range Air Force Installations
In July 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, awarded HGL the multimillion-dollar Front Range ORC to perform environmental remediation activities at six Air Force installations. The contract, with an 8-year period of performance, includes work at Air Force Plant Peter J. Kiewit and Sons (PJKS), Colorado; Buckley Air Force Base (AFB), Colorado; F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming; Malmstrom AFB, Montana; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; and the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. HGL has teamed with Insight Environmental Engineering and Construction (Insight) and APTIM Federal Services, LLC (APTIM) to perform the work.
HGL’s scope of work includes designing and implementing new remedies, maintaining established remedies, employing optimization to enhance remedial progress at applicable sites, and achieving site-specific objectives to support progress toward site closeout. The focus of HGL’s efforts will be to assist the U.S. Air Force as it continues to fulfill all facets of its Environmental Restoration Program mission while effectively and efficiently managing the program in a performance-based, results-oriented, and cost-conscious framework.
For each installation, HGL will be updating the conceptual site model and then developing a tailored characterization approach to address any data gaps pertaining to installation sites requiring remediation. After successfully characterizing these sites, HGL will continue current remediation approaches or implement new and innovative ones that will more effectively address the issues at these sites.
