EPA Ribbon Cutting Event Celebrates Startup of HGL-Constructed Remediation System at Bandera Road Superfund Site

Congratulations to our Bandera Road Superfund Site team on completing construction of soil vapor extraction (SVE) treatment systems for contaminated soils at the Bandera Road Superfund Site near San Antonio, Texas. EPA Regional Administrator for Region 6 Dr. Earthea Nance, together with staff from the office of Representative Joaquin Castro and the city of Leon Valley, hosted an interagency team celebratory Ribbon Cutting event to commemorate the system beginning operations on January 30, 2024.

Check out EPA’s ribbon cutting event video featuring Dr. Earthea Nance and HGL’s Greg Thome!

Advancing the shared missions of EPA, the state of Texas, local stakeholders, and HGL, this project will clean up volatile organic compound contamination from air, soils, and groundwater and restore the site for future reuse. From a contractual standpoint, this project is making history as the first EPA Region 6 RES construction project completed with Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funding in CLIN 2.
